Dr. Christine Gilroy, Chief Medical Officer, leads Express Scripts’ clinical efforts to improve health outcomes and increase affordability for clients and members we serve. Dr. Gilroy works closely with clients to provide clinical guidance on critical plan design decisions and solutions to address health care’s biggest challenges.


Leveraging more than 15 year of clinical expertise, Dr. Gilroy is passionate about developing a simpler health care experience to ease the burden for patients and providers. In her role as Chief Medical Officer, she advocates for affordable pathways to treatments that ensure the right patient gets the right medication at the right time.


Prior to joining Express Scripts in 2021, Dr. Gilroy was Associate Chief Medical Officer at Bright Health where she supported ACA and Medicare Advantage plans. Previously, she was medical director at Colorado HealthOP, and was the governor-appointed physician and chairperson at CoverColorado. Dr. Gilroy also taught health economics and health policy in the Colorado University School of Medicine and served as a preceptor and provider in community grant supported Adolescent Health services for low income at-risk youth. 


Dr. Gilroy earned her medical degree from Georgetown University, and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Colorado. She received an HRSA-funded faculty development grant to compete a General Internal Medicine fellowship in health services research and Masters of Science in Public Health from the University of Colorado.
